The Florida Sickle Cell Center is a private physician-owned hematology and oncology practice in Tampa, Florida serving hundreds of sickle cell patient for almost 20 years. We are offer services throughout the state of Florida by telemedicine in addition to in office visits for local patients.
Dr. Ayer earned her medical degree at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC in 1998. She subsequently studied internal medicine, hematology, and oncology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA graduating in 2004. While at Emory University, she cared for patients at Grady Memorial Hospital and worked frequently in the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center there. She developed her passion for sickle cell while working in this center. After moving to Tampa, Florida in 2004, she opened her own hematology and oncology practice. Quickly noticing a shortage of expert sickle cell care and outpatient sickle cell services, she decide to start her own sickle cell center under the umbrella of her oncology practice. With over 20 years of experience in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine, Dr. Ayer has treated hundreds of persons with sickle cell disease providing expert inpatient and outpatient care. She provides professional care in a family environment using all the latest medical technology.
Krista Taylor, APRN, was an accomplished registered nurse practicing many years in critical care settings prior to pursuing her APRN in Geriatrics at the Jersey University. Krista has worked with Dr. Ayer since 2019 as our infusion center manager. She provides personal yet professional care. She prides herself on getting to known the individual needs of each infusion patient. She insures expert care in our office infusion center.
Eva . APRN is talented and compasionate nurse practitioner. She studied nursing at Howard University. She received her nurse practioner degree from USF. She has a special interest in hematology and sickle cell disease.
